Prop 1 sign graphicKing County voters: Ballots are arriving

Bus routes that help us, our patients, and our coworkers get to work and access care are at risk for reductions and eliminations unless we act. Ballots are arriving for King County voters and our votes could make the difference. Mail your ballot by April 22nd.

Vote YES for car drivers, bus riders, and our patients:

Vote YES on Prop 1 to ensure we won’t lose bus routes and see reductions in services that could put an extra 30,000 car on the road, creating more congestion for all of us.

Without action, our Metro bus service would see 17% in cuts, leaving thousands of nurses and healthcare workers without transportation to their jobs and our patients and clients without access to the care they need.

It’s estimated up to 80% of all bus riders would be impacted by cuts if their routes are eliminated or reduced. They would have to wait longer or walk farther to get on overcrowded buses or not having a bus to get on at all.

And car drivers would be impacted, too, with an extra 30,000 cars on the road creating more congestion during commutes.

Prop 1 also temporarily reduces the new reduced fare for bus riders making less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, creating real and significant mobility savings for roughly 24% of the County’s population. And Prop 1 creates a new rebate on the vehicle fees so low income car owners — those making roughly $31,500 (as an individual) or less — pay a lower fee.

Working families patients, and clients count on King County Metro, we can’t afford to cut the transportation services our community depends on!

Vote YES to invest in our local communities:

Voting YES on Prop 1 is also an investment in local transportation projects in our own neighborhoods:

Prop 1 dedicates 40% of revenue to roadway safety, preservation and maintenance—critical funding for EVERY city and rural area. Prop 1 will enable cities and county to:

• Repave the heaviest-volume roads.

• Fix or replace bridges that otherwise would need to be closed.

• Make our roads and streets safer.

• Improve flooding/stormwater management.

• Fix our roads now so that we don’t have to replace them later.

• Widen roads and improve signals where needed to improve roadway carrying capacity.

VOTE YES on Prop 1 by April 22nd
