THURSDAY: Healthcare workers to picket at Providence St. Peter Hospital
The healthcare workers of St. Peter Hospital are calling on Providence administration to settle a fair contract after eight months of negotiations.
OLYMPIA — More than 800 healthcare workers united in SEIU Healthcare 1199NW at Providence St. Peter Hospital, including nursing assistants, EVS, and dietary workers, will hold an informational picket Thursday, January 27 from 1-3 p.m. to demand a fair contract that honors their sacrifice, provides equitable pay, and ensures workplace conditions that allow the hospital to recruit and retain quality caregivers.
The workers began bargaining with Providence in May 2021. The workers’ demands include wages that recruit and retain, safe staffing, a voice for non-nurses on staffing committees, and benefit guarantees, which Providence is proposing to take away.
