There are over 10,000 nurses in Washington currently licensed in another state but working here under the emergency volunteer provision. If this is you, apply for your Washington license as soon as possible! Once the COVID-19 state of emergency is declared over, you MUST have a Washington State license to continue practicing in Washington.
Applications are processed by the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission in the order they are received. They are currently issuing temporary practice permits within 7 to 9 days, but applications may take longer to process if they are missing any requirements.
Use the Online Application Portal to apply for any of the following licenses:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
- Nursing technicians (NTEC)
