On October 1, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW members at Harborview Medical Center marched on our CEO, saying that quality care can’t wait. We called for the hospital to respect patients and employees and settle a quality care contract by October 19.
“We’re serious about patient care, and we show that in our bargaining,” said Grace Yang, an RN at Harborview Medical Center. “Now management needs to show how serious they are about patient care by settling our contract now.”
Dozens of Harborview employees marched on the CEO’s office and delivered a petition calling for respect and fair bargaining. We have been at the bargaining table since June but management has resisted our proposals for
safe staffing, meal and rest breaks, and market-rate wages. We need management to settle this contract with us so that we can move forward to implement better staffing and better care. We’ll be back at the table on Thursday and we look forward to progress on these key patient care issues.
