Over 1,100 tech and service workers at Kadlec in Richland went on strike for a fair contract from August 20-26, walking together in unity back into work on the morning of the 27th. After bargaining since January with no contract to show for it, we took the largest action we could take to demand fair wages that keep up with the cost of living and compare to wages at other Providence hospitals like Swedish in Seattle.
Healthcare workers never want to go on strike, but Providence gave us no choice. We spent the week on the strike line with good food, music, dancing, games, and our community by our side through it all.
We left it all on the strike line, and are energized to return to the bargaining table on September 16. Our strike showed Providence that we’re serious about quality care and won’t back down until we secure a strong agreement – for our families, our patients, and our community.
